Biography
Maurice "Reece" Riden II, Esq. is a partner at Riden Law Firm, a small Georgia practice he co-founded with his wife and fellow attorney, Whitnie Riden, Esq.
A native of Georgia, Reece earned his Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law Studies with a focus on History from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia. He stood out not only in his studies but also in athletics. As a four-time All-American and National Champion in Cross Country and Track & Field, Reece applied the same discipline and determination in the classroom that he showed on the track.
He then earned his Juris Doctor from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School, where he continued to lead. Reece was named National Vice Justice of the Year for his legal fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta International. He also served as a student research assistant, peer mentor, and student ambassador. His dedication to the school continues. Since 2021, he has been on the AJMLS Alumni Board Executive. It was at John Marshall that Reece met Whitnie and where they first dreamed of building a firm together.
Reece began his legal career as a staff attorney in Hall County, managing civil and criminal cases in state court. He later joined one of Georgia's largest insurance defense firms, representing national insurance providers and large corporations. In January 2021, he joined Groth, Makarenko, Kaiser & Eidex, focusing on automobile and premises liability defense. He was an active member of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association.
Before joining Riden Law Firm, Reece managed pre-litigation and litigation files for one of Atlanta's fastest-growing personal injury practices. He earned a reputation for treating every client who walked through the door like family. This philosophy remains central to his practice today.
Reece's professional achievements are both notable and varied. He is the youngest person ever inducted into the ACLU Board, a Super Lawyers Rising Star award recipient, and has been nominated for the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 for several years.
Outside of law, Reece is on the Executive Board of Men Alive LLC, a nonprofit that mentors young men in middle and high school. He and Whitnie also run their own laptop program, providing laptops to college-bound high school seniors in Northeast Georgia.
At Riden Law Firm, Reece focuses on Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Estate Planning, and Mediation. He brings determination, accuracy, and genuine care to every case he handles.
