MAURICE “REECE” RIDEN, II, ESQ.
Maurice “Reece” Riden, II, Esq. attended Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Law Studies with a concentration in History. A standout student-athlete, Reece was a four-time All-American and National Champion in Cross Country and Track & Field.
He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School (AJMLS), where he distinguished himself both academically and in leadership. Reece was voted National Vice Justice of the Year for his legal fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta, International, and served as a student research assistant, peer mentor, and student ambassador. His dedication to the AJMLS community continues to this day—since 2021, he has served on the Alumni Board Executive. While students at AJMLS, Reece met his wife, Whitnie, and they both aspired to open up a firm together one day.
Reece began his legal career as a staff attorney in Hall County, assisting with the county’s civil and criminal dockets in state court proceedings. Reece then joined one of Georgia’s largest insurance defense firms, where he represented national insurance providers and large corporations. In January 2021, Reece joined Groth, Makarenko, Kaiser & Eidex, focusing his practice on automobile and premises liability defense. He was a member of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association.
Prior to joining the Riden Law Firm, Reece helped manage both pre-litigation and litigation files for one of Atlanta’s fastest-growing personal injury firms. Reece founded himself in treating every client that walked in the door like family.
His professional accomplishments have earned him recognition as the youngest person ever inducted into the ACLU Board, a Super Lawyers Rising Star award recipient, and a nominee for the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 for several years in a row. Beyond the courtroom, Reece has served on the Executive Board of Men Alive LLC, a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring middle and high school young men. Lately, Reece and his wife Whitnie have their own laptop program that provides laptops to college bound high school seniors in the Northeast Georgia area.
Reece and his wife reside in Hoschton, Georgia, where they enjoy running, cycling, and hiking together with their two sons.
